no, we're not remodeling again
In not so fun news, our house was broken into this week. To say it was broken into is a bit of an understatement, it might be more appropriate to say it was vandalized.I went out for a few hours Monday morning and came home to the front door wide open and stuff everywhere. After I called the police and they searched the house I came in further to find that the house was trashed. All closets had been ransacked and cabinets opened and upended, pictures ripped of the wall and wine bottles smashed. They took a lot of our stuff and made a real effort at destroying the things they couldn't carry.
Two young men have been arrested in connection with the robbery of our house. One was found with my AAA card and Rian's drivers license. The other is still just a suspect.
At first I wanted to fry the two little buggers who did this to my house but now I'm angry that they've made me feel uncomfortable in my own home. In my head I know that everything is fine. We're ok and we can replace the things that were lost but, again, I no longer feel that my home is my sanctuary.
I want nothing bad for the young men. I hope they get justice from the law and I hope they get straightened out. Most of all, I want something good to come of all of this. Sentence them to community service, lots of it and then maybe I'll begin to feel a little better.
